I have sponsor hosted galleries on my site (mature site! :) ) and was wondering whether to have a gallery section where webmasters can submit their mature galleries. Guess what I'm really asking is:

: is it a headache to maintain? (updating ect)
:is it worth it for the traffic? (ie. my reciprocal on their galleries)
:is it good/bad practice to have your own galleries hidden amongst submiited ones? )
Sorry if this sounds a bit naive, was just thinking of the daily amount of submits to surf thru as I still have a day job! :nopity:

would be grateful to be pointed to a good tutorial on pros/cons tips and tricks about having your own submitted gallery page!

Cheers!

You can try looking at these places:
http://www.adultnetsurprise.com/multiforum/tgp
http://www.theadultwebmaster.com/tgpcorner/index.phtml
www.pornresource.com, www.xbiz.com, www.cozyfrog.com are also full of tutorials.

I think if you invest the cash in some good scripts it should be fairly painless to maintain, otherwise you have to keep an eye out for cheaters. I would say the recips to your domain would definitely be valuable for search engine spiders, page ranking etc.... Definitely mix your own and some sponsor hosted galleries into the submitted ones.

Thanks Rob!

That was my thinking too, what I was also wondering, if I go ahead with it, do you recommend accepting from the autosubmitters? (argh again!)

Smoothballs you can get Auto Gallery SQL from jmbsoft.com its about $80 and it has all the features you need.
Then set up partner accounts and set the script to auto approve partner posts and auto build the site.
This way you won´t have to spend much time on it just run the gallery scanner once in a while to check for cheaters.

Recips won´t send you any traffic (almost none) but it give a few link backs to SE´s.
Accepting submissions from other gives you a larger variety of galleries on you tgp instead of just the hosted galleries you and everyone else have and that will hopefully help you get bookmarkers

If you do go ahead i would suggest strongly that you require a text link as a recip.

This wil get u more hits back than a banner/button and will also dramatically improve your SE listings.

Thanks guys! makes sense for a text link instead of button for the SE. I wouldn't mind getting a script for the galley page and will check it out, $80 works out about £45 for me so a couple of sales would pay that back for me! Still waiting for my first one but traffic is sloooow and the site has only been up for a few weeks, still setting up links ect, I know it takes time to build traffic but slowley and surely they come! I remember my first time round when I got my first sign up, it felt like I won the lotto! lol. In the end I spent less time with it and earned $100 altogether, considering I didn't market the site much on the net that wasn't too bad! lol Eventually took the site down but now I got the bug again and this time round its for keeps!
Thanks again for the help guys!

Updating isn't a pain as such, it's the cheats that are a pain. You can accept someone's galleries for a month then visit them and find out that there are 40 popups on there, or it links to a CP site or all kinds of nasty shit. One of the wonderful features of Autogallery SQL is that it can be set up to check sites for you on a timer, and if it finds any that have changed at all it can remove them from the database, so this does aid in your quest to kick out the cheat.

The main difference, as I'm sure you realise, is that you currently send your traffic to somoene that can convert for you but if you accept gallery submissions from other webmaster you're cutting down on sites that will produce for you. Of course you can add tradescripts etc to help you gain traffic but you're still losing a good portion of your traffic for someone else's benefit.

And yes, it's good practice to put your own galleries in there too. I would personally always keep a couple of my own in the top 6 galleries.

Good luck :)
